The Opportunity
We’re looking for a talented and ambitious Audit / Accounts Manager to join our supportive and collaborative team. This is more than a job—it’s a career-defining opportunity. With two of our Responsible Individuals (RIs) set to retire in the next five years, we’re seeking someone with the potential to step into a senior leadership role, take on key client relationships, and ultimately become a stakeholder in the business.
You’ll take a leading role in our growing audit department, managing our key clients, which include groups with turnover up to £180m, and help to expand the department generally. We would like you to develop the client relationships, and progress to becoming an RI. Ultimately, we would like you to progress to running this department, with an equity share.
You would also manage a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses (turnovers from £1m to £50m), lead audits, and provide strategic advice that goes beyond compliance. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and shaping the future of the firm. We would provide mentorship to enable you to become an influential business adviser.
What you’ll do…
- Lead and manage a varied portfolio of audit and general clients, including year-end and ad hoc meetings.
- Lead audits from planning to RI review (approx. 50% of the role)- Help to further develop the growing audit department- Conduct new client meetings and nurture long-term relationships.
- Review and prepare complex year-end accounts.
- Deliver proactive tax planning and business advice.
- Host pre- and post-audit meetings.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Contribute to business development and client retention.
What we’re looking for…
- ACA/ACCA qualified with 4+ years in practice.
- Strong technical knowledge and audit experience, particularly in medium to large groups.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive, growth-oriented mindset.
- A desire to progress into senior leadership and potentially partnership.

Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of senior managers to support a growing portfolio of SME clients.
- Prepare Limited Company Statutory accounts for manager/partner review to budget.
- Prepare and review sole trader/partnership accounts for manager/partner review to budget.
- Prepare and review management accounts.
- Prepare and review personal/corporate tax returns.
- Assist with audit fieldwork alongside audit managers.
- Develop strong client relationships and provide excellent service.
- Support and mentor junior trainees as they develop.
- Gradually take ownership of a client portfolio as you progress.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, proactive advice to clients.
Requirements
- Part-qualified, fully qualified (ACA/ACCA), or qualified by experience.
- Previous experience working in an accountancy practice.
- Strong communicator with a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment.
