We’re always on the lookout for new talent and are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Accounts and Tax Senior

About us

Elsby & Co are an award-winning, family owned independent firm of Chartered Accountants employing over 35 accounting professionals from our office in Rushden in Northamptonshire. We are a modern, friendly, pro-active firm of accountants who have a real passion for the professional development of its team.

We provide a traditional “compliance” accountancy service but believe there is so much more to the role of an accountant. Each client has a dedicated Client Manager who works closely with the client to understand their personal and business goals and then proactively suggest ways to help the client achieve their potential.

Our Client Managers are supported by a team of trainees and also by the Partners in the business. We place huge importance on the personal and professional development of each member of the Elsby & Co team. Our professional staff are trained in all aspects, we don’t have a separate tax department which means that effectively our staff are GP’s for business. This results in a well-rounded training programme and means that the client has one person to talk to when it comes to their financial affairs.

Our Seniors and Semi Seniors will support the Managers but will also be developed to progress to that role, and will build meaningful relationships with our clients. You would be mentored in this role, learning the skills required to become a trusted adviser. You’ll be given lots of scope to be involved in interesting client projects.

We believe that by recruiting great people, we can deliver a superior service to our clients whilst providing an enjoyable work environment. We offer excellent career development opportunities along with a highly competitive remuneration package, including an excellent profit-sharing bonus scheme.

At Elsby & Co, you will grow and develop hugely. All incoming staff comment on how much they learn. This is because we focus on ways of helping our clients, not just the core work. You’ll be taught this side of the role and be given valuable support and guidance from those around you.

The Opportunity

Elsby & Co has an opportunity for a motivated and talented individual who is looking to further their professional career as a Senior Accountant.

The role primarily involves supporting the Client Managers with looking after the day to day compliance and advisory aspects for a client. The role will largely involve dealing with the accounting and tax requirements for SME’s and you will be responsible for the training of more junior accounts staff, including appraisal of their work.

This will be an exciting, all-round role where you’ll be a main contact point with clients and therefore develop meaningful relationships. You’ll get involved in all aspects of looking after a client, including tax, accounts, systems and general support and advisory. You’ll learn how to become a ‘trusted adviser’ to our clients and be given all the support and mentoring necessary to progress to becoming a manager.

Elsby & Co are keen to make the most of modern technology and this is reflected in the internal working practices and how the firm works with clients. The role will also involve assisting in providing timely management information in keeping with the firm’s pro-active business advisory service, a service we are seeking to develop, along with systems improvements, so experience in these areas would be an advantage.

There is no limit to ultimate career progression to Partner level for the right candidate.
