As a growing regional firm of Chartered Accountants, we are looking for a Client Manager to work in our modern offices in Northamptonshire. We believe that by recruiting great people, we can deliver a superior service to our customers whilst providing an enjoyable work environment.
Position
- Supporting the Partners with looking after the ongoing needs of a portfolio of clients.
- Dealing with accounting, tax and general financial / business requirements for SME’s.
- Taking responsibility for training junior accounts staff, including appraisal of their work.
- Taking responsibility for other aspects of business development for the firm.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in the role within a small practice.
- Experience in preparation of accounts for sole traders and small to medium sized companies.
- Previous experience of training and developing junior staff.
- An openness to use modern technology, both for internal efficiencies but also to assist customers in their business practices.
- Full UK driving license

The role primarily involves supporting the Client Manager with looking after the day to day compliance aspects for a client. The role will largely involve dealing with the accounting and tax requirements for SME’s and you will be responsible for the training of more junior accounts staff, including appraisal of their work.
Elsby & Co are keen to make the most of modern technology and this is reflected in the internal working practices and how the firm works with clients. The role will also involve assisting in providing timely management information in keeping with the firm’s pro-active business advisory service, a service we are seeking to develop, along with systems improvements, so experience in these areas would be an advantage.
The role will provide you with an opportunity for direct client contact therefore strong technical and communication skills are essential.
There is no limit to ultimate career progression to Partner level for the right candidate.

Our professional staff are trained in all aspects, we don’t have a separate tax department which means that effectively our staff are GP’s for business. This results in a well-rounded training programme and means that the client has one person to talk to when it comes to their financial affairs.
We have invested heavily in technology to allow our staff to work as efficiently as possible. We also work with clients to streamline their businesses using apps and all that modern technology has to offer.
The Role
Elsby & Co has an opportunity for a motivated and talented individual who is looking to further their professional career as a Semi-Senior Accountant, to join the team in our recently refurbished offices in Sywell and Rushden in Northamptonshire
As a Semi-Senior we would expect you to be moving away from task-based work to more on-going client management throughout the year. The role primarily involves supporting the Client Manager and Senior Accountant with looking after the day to day compliance aspects for a client. The role will largely involve dealing with the accounting and tax requirements for SME’s and you will be assisting in the training of more junior accounts staff, including appraisal of their work.
We appreciate that not everyone will have accounts and tax experience and therefore we will provide training so that you can develop in new areas and become a more “rounded” accountant.
Elsby & Co are keen to make the most of modern technology and this is reflected in the internal working practices and how the firm works with clients.
The role will provide you with an opportunity for direct client contact therefore strong technical and communication skills are essential.
There is no limit to career progression and ultimately could lead to Partner level for the right candidate.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Semi-Senior Accountant within practice, ideally 3 – 5 years
- AAT qualified and either ACCA/ACA studier
- An openness to use modern technology, both for internal efficiencies but also to assist clients in their business practices
- A friendly “can do” attitude and an ability to communicate well.

We are an authorised training office for both ACA and ACCA leading to professional qualifications. We also provide professional development training such as communication and presentation skills to support you as you progress through your career.

Requirements
- You should be friendly, approachable and enjoy communications with clients and colleagues
- You should be numerate, inquisitive and a logical thinker
- You should be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and develop
- You could have previous experience as a Trainee Accountant within practice
- You should have an openness to use modern technology, both for internal efficiencies but also to assist clients in their business practices
- You should have competent Excel skills, and where available previous experience of SAGE, Xero, Quickbooks would be an advantage
- You should have a willingness to increase qualifications where relevant, this can consist of:

- No current relevant qualifications, but a willingness to study AAT, ACA or ACCA where relevant, or
- AAT qualified with experience and looking to start a training contract with either ACA or ACCA, or
- Already studying AAT, ACA or ACCA, part qualified would be ideal, and wishing to continue studies
L1 or L2 AAT candidates have an opportunity for an apprenticeship with us
