The Role

Elsby & Co are looking to recruit a full time Practice Manager / Financial Controller to work within their established and very successful accountancy firm. The Financial Controller role will involve elements of Practice Management along with full responsibility for financial reporting and controls for a group of offices in Northamptonshire.

Main responsibilities for the role will be

  • To oversee the financial function of two businesses
  • Monthly management accounts, including supervision of the internal bookkeeping function
  • Preparation of statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts and bonus calculations
  • Controlling WIP and Lock up
  • Supervising the credit control function
  • Working with the Partners to set KPI’s, goals and objectives and ensure that they are monitored
  • Sounding board for Partners
  • Process improvement and implementation of new / revised operational systems
  • Supervise IT function
  • Heading up the administration functions for both offices
  • General practice management

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an accountancy firm with ambitious plans. The Practice Management role will be an ideal choice for someone in an existing Practice Management role within a professional services business, looking for a role with more commercial edge and challenge. It would equally suit a qualified and experienced accountant who has spent some time working in Industry but would enjoy a move back to Practice. The Role

Elsby & Co has an opportunity for a motivated and talented individual who is looking to further their professional career as a Client Manager.

The role primarily involves managing a portfolio of clients with responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of the day to day service provided to clients and reporting directly to Partner level. The role will largely involve dealing with the accounting and tax requirements for SMEs, together with ad-hoc projects from time to time.

Elsby & Co are keen to make the most of modern technology and this is reflected in the internal working practices and how the firm works with clients. The role will also involve providing timely management information in keeping with the firm’s pro-active business advisory service, which is a service we are seeking to develop, along with systems improvements, so experience in these areas would be an advantage

The role will provide you with significant client contact and you will be required to supervise and support junior staff members therefore strong technical and communication skills are essential.

There is no limit to career progression to Partner level for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA with at least 2 years PQE
  • Previous experience as a Client Portfolio Manager within practice
  • Previous experience of training and developing junior staff
  • An openness to use modern technology, both for internal efficiencies but also to assist clients in their business practices
  • An interest in networking and developing new contacts and business referrals

The role primarily involves supporting the Client Manager with looking after the day to day compliance aspects for a client. The role will largely involve dealing with the accounting and tax requirements for SME’s and you will be responsible for the training of more junior accounts staff, including appraisal of their work.

Elsby & Co are keen to make the most of modern technology and this is reflected in the internal working practices and how the firm works with clients. The role will also involve assisting in providing timely management information in keeping with the firm’s pro-active business advisory service, a service we are seeking to develop, along with systems improvements, so experience in these areas would be an advantage.

The role will provide you with an opportunity for direct client contact therefore strong technical and communication skills are essential.

There is no limit to ultimate career progression to Partner level for the right candidate.

Elsby & Co has an opportunity for a motivated and talented individual who is looking to further their professional career as a Semi-Senior Accountant.

As a Semi-Senior we would expect you to be moving away from task-based work to more on-going client management throughout the year. The role primarily involves supporting the Client Manager and Senior Accountant with looking after the day to day compliance aspects for a client. The role will largely involve dealing with the accounting and tax requirements for SME’s and you will be assisting in the training of more junior accounts staff, including appraisal of their work.

We appreciate that not everyone will have accounts and tax experience and therefore we will provide training so that you can develop in new areas and become a more “rounded” accountant.

Elsby & Co are keen to make the most of modern technology and this is reflected in the internal working practices and how the firm works with clients.

The role will provide you with an opportunity for direct client contact therefore strong technical and communication skills are essential.

There is no limit to career progression and ultimately could lead to Partner level for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Semi-Senior Accountant within practice, ideally 3 - 5 years
  • AAT qualified and either ACCA/ACA studier
  • An openness to use modern technology, both for internal efficiencies but also to assist clients in their business practices
  • A friendly “can do” attitude and an ability to communicate well.
