What’s it’s really like to work for us?
We understand it’s difficult to know what you want to do as a career before you have had any practical experience in the profession. Here at Elsby and Co we offer work experience for A-level pupils and Internships for university students throughout the year.
We work closely with local schools offering work experience to A-level pupils during the school holidays. To apply you need to:
- Write a cover letter
- Write a basic CV to include:
- GCSE grades for all subjects
- AS grades
- Predictions for A-levels
We also want to know what makes you tick. Include your interests and hobbies and a little bit about yourself and why you are interested in accountancy.
The process is simple. Email the above to Clare Elsby and we will get back in touch.
We currently work with The University of Leicester, Loughborough University, De Montfort University and Northampton Business School, The University of Northampton, providing seminars and workshops on various topics including employability and what to expect when working in a regional firm of accountants.
We want students to know that it’s not all about corporate firms or FTSE 100’s and to look a little closer to home when applying for graduate roles. The training platform provided by independent and regional firms is arguably the best training ground for some candidates. This is why we offer internships to give students a flavour of working whilst they are studying.
The benefits are two-fold, the student gets to earn while they learn, putting into practice their theoretical knowledge and we get to put you through a long interview process, with the desired outcome being us offering a training contract when you graduate.
The process is a little more like ‘real life’ than for work experience opportunities. We expect a well thought out cover letter and CV to be emailed to us. We then send you a link to complete a numerical reasoning test and the final stage is a face-to-face interview. There is no formula, no tricks. Each stage of your application is reviewed by a person and at any point, you can set yourself apart.
Case Study - Alex Hazell
I was soon presented with a fantastic opportunity to work for Elsby & Co in their Sywell main office, for 9 weeks as a paid intern, and after my second interview I found out that I had been chosen for the role.
