I joined Elsby & Co at the start of July 2014 and I am glad that I did. I have been training as an accountant since April 2010 and worked for four years at a very small firm in South Cambridgeshire. Whilst there I progressed and completed all aspects of work from payroll, VAT returns, bookkeeping, accounts preparation and completing business and personal tax returns.

I decided I needed to move on as I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience. The firm I worked at was small so I wanted a role in a bigger firm. This was when I made my move to Elsby & Co. In the short time that I have been here, my eyes have been opened to how vast the accounting world is and I have learnt an amazing amount already, with the encouragement, support and friendly advice I receive from all Seniors, Managers and Partners.

It is always nerve wracking starting a new job, but those nerves were soon washed away when I started. All staff were so welcoming and treated me like I had worked here for years. I now look forward to coming to work, as I know it’s going to be fun and full of laughs, as every day has been. Even through stressful busy periods everyone finds the time to encourage each other and support each other where needed.

As a Trainee accountant, I am constantly bombarding Managers and Partners with queries and questions and I never feel like I cannot approach anyone. Everyone wants to help, and to help you to develop your career and knowledge. The support I have had through exams has been amazing, with all staff giving different ways to learn and revise and everyone handing out tips and pointers on how to make the best of studying.

I am glad I made the move to join Elsby & Co and I feel my career will develop and progress to a top level.
